Settings hub
Open Push notifications → Settings to control when the permission prompt appears and which automated push types are active.
General
- Display on desktop / mobile: show the permission prompt on each device class
- Initial display trigger: on page load or when the visitor starts scrolling
- Initial delay (0–60 seconds): wait before showing the prompt (page-load trigger only)
Automated notification types
Toggle each type on or off. When enabled, Recently sends the push automatically when the triggering event occurs for a subscribed shopper.
Abandoned checkout
- Sends when a subscribed shopper leaves checkout without completing purchase
- Delay options: 15 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, or 7 days after abandonment
- Only one abandoned-checkout push per checkout session
Order shipped
Sends when an order fulfillment is created. Includes order context so the shopper knows which purchase shipped.
Order tracking updates
Sends when carrier tracking status changes (in transit, out for delivery, delivered, etc.).
Back in stock
Sends to subscribed shoppers who recently viewed a product when inventory returns above zero. Requires the shopper to have visited the product page while subscribed.
Price drop
Sends to subscribed shoppers who recently viewed a product when its price decreases. Compares against the price at time of view.
Custom announcements
Must be enabled for manual campaigns to send. Does not trigger automatically: campaigns are merchant-initiated.
Send test
Each automated type includes a Send test button. Pick a subscribed device from the dropdown and Recently delivers a test notification immediately. Use this to verify copy, images, and links before enabling a type for all subscribers.
To test, you need at least one active subscriber: visit your storefront, accept the permission prompt, and confirm your device appears in Subscribers.
Appearance & templates
Push content and prompt design are configured separately:
- Appearance: prompt style, colors, placement (see Push overview)
- Template: title and body copy per push type, plus permission prompt text, with translations
Browser support
Web push requires a supporting browser and HTTPS. Safari on iOS added web push support in iOS 16.4+ for installed web apps and supported browsers. Chrome, Firefox, and Edge on desktop support push broadly. Shoppers who deny permission cannot receive push until they reset the permission in browser settings.
